Advanced Tajweed Classes

This is for a child who already recites with Tajweed and has stopped getting better. The rules they know cover most of a page. Everything else is what separates careful recitation from accurate pronunciation, and it is what Live Quran Lessons teaches here.

Who is this Advanced Tajweed course for?

Your child finished the Noorani Qaida a while ago. They recite the Quran without stumbling, and a qualified teacher has already taken them through Noon Sakin, Meem Sakin and the basic Madd rules. That is exactly where most students stop.

If that sounds like your child, this is the next class. If it does not, the ordinary Tajweed course comes first. A qualified teacher decides by listening to your child recite in the free trial classes, never from a registration form.

What does Advanced Tajweed cover?

Makharij in detail

The seventeen points in the mouth and throat where Arabic sounds are made. The Noorani Qaida groups these into five broad places; this course takes them one at a time. Most mistakes an adult still carries come from two Arabic letters being made in exactly the wrong position.

Sifaat

The qualities an Arabic letter carries. Heavy or light, whether air escapes, whether the sound bounces. This is what makes two letters made at the same position sound completely different.

The rules of Madd

How long a stretch lasts, and exactly which kind is which. Madd Asli, Madd Muttasil, Madd Munfasil and Madd Lazim each have a different count, and every one is checked during recitation.

Waqf and Ibtida

Where you may stop, where you must not, and where to begin again after a breath. Stopping in the wrong position can completely change the meaning of a verse, so every stop is taught carefully.

How is Advanced Tajweed taught?

  • Your child reads aloud. The teacher stops them the moment something slips.
  • One rule at a time, found inside what they are already reading.
  • The name of the rule comes after the sound, never before it.
  • Longer passages as it goes, so the rules hold when nobody is prompting.

None of this can be learned from a recording. Somebody has to hear the recitation and stop your child mid-word, which is why every class is live and one-to-one.

How do the Advanced Tajweed classes work?

  • 30 minutes, 1-to-1 with the teacher.
  • The same teacher each week, at a time that suits you.
  • Ask for a male or a female teacher and we match it where we can.
  • A supervisor listens to every class from start to finish.
  • A written note after each class: what was covered, what to practise.

FAQ

Check out our FAQs to learn more about how our live Quran Academy works, from when classes happen to how you pay.

What is advanced Tajweed?

The part of Tajweed that comes after the common rules. It covers the seventeen articulation points and the qualities of every Arabic letter. It also covers the lengths of Madd, and the rules for stopping and starting again.

How do I know if my child is ready?

If the recitation is fluent and they already understand Noon Sakin, Meem Sakin and the basic Madd rules, they are ready. If not, the ordinary Tajweed course comes first, and a qualified teacher will say which after the free trial classes.

Do you teach advanced Tajweed to adults?

Yes. Mistakes learned young are fixable, and one-to-one is the only setting where the pronunciation gets caught and corrected.

Is this the same as Qira'at?

No. This course is about reciting correctly in the way you already read. The different Qira'at are a separate study.

What makes your online Quran academy different?

Your child keeps the same qualified teacher every week, at the same time, which is usually what makes progress stick. Every class is one-to-one with that teacher. After each one you get a written note: what was covered, and what to practise.

Are these live Quran classes or recorded lessons?

Live, always. Every class is a live lesson with a teacher on Google Meet, at a set time. We never send recordings in place of live lessons.

What will my child learn in online Quran classes?

A recitation class is 30 minutes: 20 minutes of recitation and 10 minutes of Islamic Studies. Families who choose five days a week follow that pattern from Monday to Thursday. Friday is Islamic Day: it revises the Islamic Studies covered that week and adds a new lesson. Beginners start with the Arabic letters and their pronunciation through the Noorani Qaida, then move on to Quran recitation with Tajweed.

Are your online Quran teachers qualified?

Yes, and we check it before anyone teaches a child. Every teacher holds a qualification from a recognised Islamic institution. A number of them also hold professional degrees outside it: we have MBBS doctors and clinical psychologists teaching with us. Nobody starts on the strength of an application. Our HR department interviews, checks the documents, trains the teacher, and watches them take a live demo class before they are given a student.

Who is watching my child's Quran class?

A supervisor. She joins the link before the teacher and your child, checks that both are online, and stays for the whole lesson. If the recitation needs correcting she says so during the class rather than afterwards. Every class is supervised, and all our supervisors are women. You are welcome to sit in yourself as well, on any lesson, without telling us first.

How do I schedule my child's Quran class?

3 steps. Fill in the form, or message us on WhatsApp, with your child's name, age and the times that suit you. We check which qualified teachers are available at those times, in your timezone. We come back with the day, the time and the link to join. Some families are in their first class within the hour.

Can we try the online Quran classes before enrolling?

Yes. Take up to 3 free trial classes first. Use them to check the teacher, the timing, and how your child responds before paying anything.

Can parents sit in on the Quran class?

Yes, and we would rather you did. You are welcome to watch any lesson. After every class the teacher also writes down what was covered and what to practise, so you are not left guessing between lessons.

What am I committing to, and what if we want to stop?

There is no contract and no minimum term. Fees are monthly, and you pay for the month ahead. If you want to stop, tell us and we will stop. If you need a break instead, we can hold the place and carry any unused balance to the next month. Before your regular classes begin, you can withdraw and get a full refund.

How much do online Quran classes for kids cost?

Live Quran Lessons charges monthly, and the price follows how many days a week your child attends. 2 days a week is $39, 3 days $49, 4 days $59, and 5 days $65. Every lesson is 30 minutes, 1-to-1 with the teacher. Hifz lessons run longer and are priced on their own. Up to 3 classes are free, and no credit card is required during signup. The fee is per child. Prices here are in US dollars. We also charge in pounds, Canadian dollars and Australian dollars.
