All 8 courses
What does a female Quran teacher teach?
All 8 of our courses, from the Arabic alphabet to Tafseer.
01
Noorani Qaida
Our own illustrated Qaida, read on screen, which names the letters and explains its lessons in English. She works through it in 4 stages, and moves on only once the stage before it is read correctly.
All 28 letters, by name and by sound
The 7 heavy letters, and raa, heavy or light
Harakat, tanween, maddah, sakoon and waqf
A female teacher takes her letter by letter, saying each sound aloud for her to copy.
Recitation from the Mus'haf, the printed Quran. The rules she met one at a time in the Qaida now arrive together, inside whole verses, and the teacher corrects each slip as she reads.
Heavy and light letters, and the long vowels
Qalqalah, noon sakin and meem sakin
Sakoon, tashdeed, and where a reciter stops
A female teacher corrects her recitation and teaches the Tajweed rules as she reads.
The makharij: the 17 points the Arabic letters are made at, grouped in 5 areas. Each one is practised inside real verses, and a letter said from the wrong place is corrected on the spot.
The throat: 3 points, 6 letters
The tongue: 10 points, 18 letters
The lips, the nose and the open mouth
A female teacher shows her where each letter is made, and how the rule is applied.
A longer class, in a fixed order: yesterday's portion from memory, then the older portions revised, and only then the next portion set. Its size is chosen for your daughter, not taken from a fixed daily amount.
A few surahs, such as Yaseen or Al-Mulk
Juz Amma: 37 surahs, An-Naba to An-Nas
Or all 30 paras, which is the full Hifz
A female teacher hears yesterday's portion from memory before anything new is set.
The meaning of the Arabic words, in English or in Urdu, so she understands what she is reciting. It is for a daughter who already reads the Quran in Arabic, up to the age of 17.
The plain meaning of each verse
The words that come up again and again
The Arabic she recites, tied to its meaning
A female teacher gives the meaning in plain English, or in Urdu.
The meaning of the verses she recites, so her recitation carries understanding and not pronunciation alone. Translation stops at the words; Tafseer carries on to the explanation behind them. Longer sessions are available.
The whole verse, in everyday words
Revealed in Makkah or in Madinah, and when
What the verse asks of her now
A female teacher explains the verse, and its lesson, in simple words.
Quranic Arabic, not conversational. Where she starts depends on what she reads already: the letters alone, joining them into words, or the vocabulary of the Quran and its translation.
The 28 letters, and the shapes they take
Right to left, and the short vowel marks
Quranic words, their meaning and their sound
A female teacher builds her reading and her vocabulary step by step.
Alongside the recitation, with no tests or exams. The duas and the Ahadith come with their English translation, so she knows what she is saying and when it is said.
The 6 Kalimas, and the 99 names of Allah
Wudu, and Salah step by step
Daily duas, Ahadith, the Prophets' stories
A female teacher sets the duas to memorize, and tells the stories herself.
For a beginner, our figure for the Noorani Qaida is 4 to 10 months, and some girls take longer, which is completely normal. She moves on to recitation from the Mus'haf once she recognizes and pronounces every individual letter correctly, and not before.
How many days a week?
How many days a week she attends is your decision, and the rest depends on your daughter. Classes run 2, 3, 4 or 5 days a week, and the monthly fee follows the days you choose. Hifz runs 5 days a week, priced by the length of the class instead.

Find the right starting point
Where does a beginner start?
That depends on how much Arabic your daughter can already read. There are 3 starting points, and the free trial classes show whether the fit is right.
1
She has never read Arabic
We start with Noorani Qaida, our own illustrated beginner's book, at any age we teach. It names the letters and explains its lessons in English, and she is not moved on until every letter is secure.
We can focus on translation, the meaning of the Arabic words, Tafseer, or Hifz (memorization). Each of these can run as a 45-minute or 1-hour class instead of 30.
How fast she moves depends on where she starts and on the days a week you choose. We do not promise a finishing date, and we would rather say so honestly than guess.

Who it is for
Girls, and boys whose parents want a female teacher. The academy teaches children.
Ages
From 4½ to 17.
Each lesson
30 minutes, 1-to-1.
Language
English, or Urdu where that is easier for the family.
The book
Our own books, read together on screen. Nothing to buy.
Yes. We keep the same teacher and time for every class. If you ever need a change, we're here to help.
01
One teacher, one fixed time
Your daughter keeps the same teacher and the same class time every week. Nobody is permanently swapped without asking you first.
02
If you want a different teacher
Ask in your family WhatsApp group and another teacher is arranged. She is told where your daughter has reached and how she was taught, so nothing starts again.
03
If her teacher is away
Either the class is moved, or another teacher who has been told the lesson plan stands in. Whichever happens, you are told, with a replacement day proposed.
04
If you need to move a class
Tell us in the family WhatsApp group: 2 to 3 hours' notice to move a class later the same day, 1 hour to move it to another day. If her classes are on weekdays, 3 a month can be moved; at weekends, 2. If she is late, her teacher waits about 5 minutes, then logs out.
05
If you want to stop
Say so, and the classes stop. You sign no contract, and there is no minimum number of months. A family that needs a break can carry any unused fee to the following month.
06
Her qualification
Every female teacher at Live Quran Lessons holds a qualification from a recognized Islamic institution. Before she is given a student, she passes our 6 stages, from a written application to a live demo class we watch.
How do I book a trial with a female Quran tutor, and when?
Booking a trial
A short form, and a reply on WhatsApp.
Fill in the registration form with your country and your WhatsApp number, and we message you on WhatsApp. Tell us your daughter's age and whether she has learned before. Your number is used only to arrange the trial.
We answer within 24 hours, and a trial can begin within an hour or two of your reply. Before it does, we ask for the student's name and age, the days a week you want, and the times that suit your family.
The trial is up to 3 classes of 30 minutes each, with no card details and no registration fee. If you decide against it afterwards, there is nothing to cancel.
What time can her class be?
In your own time zone, and yours to change.
Your daughter has her own female teacher and her own class time, given in your own time zone. Teachers at the academy work around the clock, so most time zones are covered.
If a time stops suiting you later, it can be rescheduled.
You do not need to judge her recitation before you book. Tell us on WhatsApp whether she has read the Quran before or is starting as a beginner, and the first classes settle where she begins.
If two of your children enroll, they are 2 separate students with 2 teachers, and each class has its own link. Classes at the same hour need 2 devices; one class straight after another on a single device works too.
2, 3, 4 or 5, each 30 minutes, with the same female teacher at the same time every week. The fees here are for 30-minute classes, per student, paid monthly in advance.
2 days a week
8 lessons a month
A steady start, with time between classes for the page in the teacher's note.

My instructor is thorough and she really has patience for me as I am a slow learner. The supervisor is very responsive and they are both quite encouraging to me through my struggle to learn to recite properly. Alhamdulillah! May Allah reward them in their continued efforts, Ameen.

Can I request a female Quran teacher for my daughter?
Yes. Male and female teachers are available.
Does my daughter need to read Arabic before she starts?
No. A beginner starts with the Noorani Qaida. If she already reads the Quran and needs her Tajweed corrected, she starts with recitation instead.
Can two of my children learn with a female teacher?
Yes, as two separate students. Each has her own teacher, her own time and her own monthly fee. If it suits you, book one class straight after the other on the same evening.
Can my daughter's classes be recitation only, without Islamic Studies?
Yes. Ask when you book, or later in your family WhatsApp group, and her classes are changed to recitation only.
What makes your online Quran academy different?
Your child keeps the same qualified teacher every week, at the same time. Every class is one-to-one. After each class the teacher writes a note: what was covered and what to practise.
More questions(12)
Are these live Quran classes or recorded lessons?
Live, always. Every class is a live lesson on video with your child's teacher. We never send recordings in place of live lessons.
What will my child learn in online Quran classes?
Beginners start with the Noorani Qaida. From there it is Quran recitation with Tajweed, and after that Hifz, translation or Tafseer, depending on what a family wants. Alongside the Quran your child learns Islamic Studies. Families on 5 days a week keep Friday as Islamic Day, which revises that week's Islamic Studies and adds one new lesson.
Are your online Quran teachers qualified?
Yes, and it is checked before anyone teaches a child. Every teacher holds a qualification from a recognized Islamic institution, and several hold professional degrees as well. Nobody is given a student on an application alone. There is an interview, a document check, training, and a live demo class we sit in on. The academy page sets out each stage.
Who is watching my child's Quran class?
A supervisor. She joins the link about 2 minutes before the teacher and your child, checks that both are online, and listens in as the lesson runs. She is not there to teach: she is there to make sure the class is a good one. If the sound fails, or the teacher is not listening closely enough to your child, she steps in. Every class is supervised, and all our supervisors are female.
How do I schedule my child's Quran class?
Send us your WhatsApp number on the form, or message us on WhatsApp. We ask for your child's age and the times that suit you. A supervisor places your child with a teacher in a slot at that time, in your time zone. We reply on WhatsApp within 24 hours, and usually within hours.
Can we try the online Quran classes before enrolling?
Yes. Take up to 3 free trial classes first. Use them to check the teacher, the timing, and how your child responds before paying anything.
Can parents sit in on the Quran class?
Yes. You are welcome to watch any lesson, without asking first.
What am I committing to, and what if we want to stop?
There is no contract and no minimum term. Fees are monthly, and you pay for the month ahead. If you want to stop, tell us and we will stop. If you need a break instead, any unused balance carries to the next month. Before your regular classes begin, you can withdraw and get a full refund.
How do we stay in touch once classes start?
Through a WhatsApp group we open for your family after the trial classes. It has 4 people in it: you, your child's supervisor, the coordinator and the academy manager. Use it to move a class, ask for a different teacher, or raise anything at all. We try to settle it before the next class.
What do you do with my WhatsApp number?
Arranging your trial class is the only thing we use it for, and we never pass it on to anybody. Once classes start it is the number in your family WhatsApp group.
Is my child safe in an online Quran class?
You are welcome to watch any lesson yourself, without asking first, and a supervisor is listening in on every class. No teacher is given a student until we have checked their certificates and references. We then train them in how we teach, and sit in on a live demo class before they start.
How much do online Quran classes for kids cost?
Live Quran Lessons charges monthly, per child, by the days a week your child attends. 2 days a week is $39, 3 days $49, 4 days $59, and 5 days $65. Each lesson is 30 minutes, 1-to-1.
