Do you have a male Quran teacher for my son?

Yes. Live Quran Lessons has taught children Quran recitation and Islamic Studies online since 2019. More than 1,000 students across 15 countries have learned with us, and referrals brought a large part of them. The families are mainly in the UK, the USA, Canada, Australia and Europe.

Every one of our male Quran tutors is a hafiz. They are trained in Quranic Arabic rather than being native speakers, and several hold a professional degree alongside it.

Google rates us 5.0, and Trustpilot 4.7. Both figures are public, so you can check them yourself.

All 8 courses

What does a male Quran teacher teach?

All 8 of our courses, from the Arabic alphabet to Tafseer.

Noorani Qaida

Our own illustrated Qaida, read on screen, which names the letters and explains its lessons in English. He works through it in 4 stages, and moves on only once the stage before it is read correctly.

  • All 28 letters, by name and by sound
  • The 7 heavy letters, and raa, heavy or light
  • Harakat, tanween, maddah, sakoon and waqf

A male teacher takes him letter by letter, saying each sound aloud for him to copy.

Start Noorani Qaida

Quran with Tajweed

Recitation from the Mus'haf, the printed Quran. The rules he met one at a time in the Qaida now arrive together, inside whole verses, and the teacher corrects each slip as he reads.

  • Heavy and light letters, and the long vowels
  • Qalqalah, noon sakin and meem sakin
  • Sakoon, tashdeed, and where a reciter stops

A male teacher corrects his recitation and teaches the Tajweed rules as he reads.

Start Quran with Tajweed

Advanced Tajweed

The makharij: the 17 points the Arabic letters are made at, grouped in 5 areas. Each one is practised inside real verses, and a letter said from the wrong place is corrected on the spot.

  • The throat: 3 points, 6 letters
  • The tongue: 10 points, 18 letters
  • The lips, the nose and the open mouth

A male teacher shows him where each letter is made, and how the rule is applied.

Start Advanced Tajweed

Hifz (memorization)

A longer class, in a fixed order: yesterday's portion from memory, then the older portions revised, and only then the next portion set. Its size is chosen for your son, not taken from a fixed daily amount.

  • A few surahs, such as Yaseen or Al-Mulk
  • Juz Amma: 37 surahs, An-Naba to An-Nas
  • Or all 30 paras, which is the full Hifz

A male teacher hears yesterday's portion from memory before anything new is set.

Start Hifz

Translation

The meaning of the Arabic words, in English or in Urdu, so he understands what he is reciting. It is for a son who already reads the Quran in Arabic, up to the age of 17.

  • The plain meaning of each verse
  • The words that come up again and again
  • The Arabic he recites, tied to its meaning

A male teacher gives the meaning in plain English, or in Urdu.

Start Translation

Tafseer

The meaning of the verses he recites, so his recitation carries understanding and not pronunciation alone. Translation stops at the words; Tafseer carries on to the explanation behind them. Longer sessions are available.

  • The whole verse, in everyday words
  • Revealed in Makkah or in Madinah, and when
  • What the verse asks of him now

A male teacher explains the verse, and its lesson, in simple words.

Start Tafseer

Arabic

Quranic Arabic, not conversational. Where he starts depends on what he reads already: the letters alone, joining them into words, or the vocabulary of the Quran and its translation.

  • The 28 letters, and the shapes they take
  • Right to left, and the short vowel marks
  • Quranic words, their meaning and their sound

A male teacher builds his reading and his vocabulary step by step.

Start Arabic

Islamic Studies

Alongside the recitation, with no tests or exams. The duas and the Ahadith come with their English translation, so he knows what he is saying and when it is said.

  • The 6 Kalimas, and the 99 names of Allah
  • Wudu, and Salah step by step
  • Daily duas, Ahadith, the Prophets' stories

A male teacher sets the duas to memorize, and tells the stories himself.

Start Islamic Studies

How long does it take?

For a beginner, our figure for the Noorani Qaida is 4 to 10 months, and some boys take longer, which is completely normal. He moves on to recitation from the Mus'haf once he recognizes and pronounces every individual letter correctly, and not before.

How many days a week?

How many days a week he attends is your decision, and the rest depends on your son. Classes run 2, 3, 4 or 5 days a week, and the monthly fee follows the days you choose. Hifz runs 5 days a week, priced by the length of the class instead.

Teacher and kit

Will my son keep the same teacher, and what does he need?

Yes, he keeps the same teacher. And the class runs on a device you already own, with nothing to buy.

The same teacher every day

Who teaches him, and what happens if he is away.

  • The same brother teaches him at the same time every week.
  • Nobody swaps his regular teacher without asking you first.
  • Times are given in your own time zone, and can be changed later.
  • When his teacher is away for a day, we tell you and propose a replacement day.
  • Or another teacher takes the class for that day, told exactly what the lesson is and how your son is taught.

What he needs for the class

What the class runs on, and what to have ready.

  • A laptop, tablet or phone with a camera, and an internet connection.
  • Nothing is installed: Google Meet opens in an ordinary browser.
  • No books to buy. He reads ours on screen.
  • Headphones make the pronunciation easier to copy correctly, but are not required.
  • About 10 minutes free between classes, for the page the note sets.
A class with a male teacher

What happens in a class, and how do I book a trial?

The same 3 things happen in every class, whichever course your son is on.

Your son opens the link

One Google Meet link runs every class, from the first trial onward. You receive it once, with its meeting code, on WhatsApp. It stays the same whenever a class time changes.

He recites to his teacher

The teacher shares his screen with the book open, so your son recites from the page while the teacher listens. Every slip in his pronunciation or recitation is corrected out loud, immediately. Watch any lesson whenever you like; no need to ask permission beforehand.

The note reaches you

After every class the teacher writes down exactly what was covered and what to practise, with a link to the book and page. It arrives in the family group, in plain English.

Booking a trial

A short form, and a reply on WhatsApp.

Put your country and your WhatsApp number in the registration form. We reply on WhatsApp with a few questions. We ask his name and age, whether he is a beginner or has previous learning, and the time you want. Once you answer, he is placed with a male teacher in an available slot, and the first trial can start within an hour or two.

The free classes, and after

Up to 3 free, and no contract at any point.

Up to 3 trial classes are free, with no credit card at signup and no registration fee. If you decide against it, there is nothing to cancel. If you carry on, we open a WhatsApp group for your family, where everything afterward is arranged, and the monthly fee begins. There is no contract, and you can stop in whichever month you choose by telling us.

  • No credit card
  • No registration fee
  • Up to 3 free classes
  • No contract
Flexible for families

Can we change teacher, or move a class, later?

Yes. Ask in your family WhatsApp group, and we settle it before his next class.

Change teacher

Yes, whenever you ask. Say so in your family WhatsApp group and a different teacher is arranged. The new teacher is told where your son had reached in his recitation and how he was taught, so his lessons continue where they were.

Move a class

For another day, give us a minimum of 1 hour's notice. For a different time on the same day, the notice is longer: 2 to 3 hours before the class. A weekday student may reschedule 3 classes a month, and a weekend student 2.

A class he misses

If your son is late and nobody has told us, the teacher waits about 5 minutes and then logs out. That class is not made up. A class the teacher cancels, or joins late, is made up.

Change what is taught

Recitation only, with no Islamic Studies, is yours for the asking. So is an additional day a week. Ask in the family group and we try to settle everything before his next class.

Weekly plans

How many classes a week can my son have?

2, 3, 4 or 5, each 30 minutes, with the same male teacher at the same time every week. These fees are for the 30-minute classes; Hifz, in a longer class, is priced by its length.

FAQ

The questions parents ask us most, answered.

Can I request a male Quran teacher for my son?

Yes. Tell us when you book, and he is placed with a male teacher in an available slot.

Is my son's Quran teacher a hafiz?

Yes. Every male teacher at Live Quran Lessons is a hafiz, and holds a qualification from a recognized Islamic institution.

How long is each class?

30 minutes, 1-to-1. Ask for 45 minutes or 1 hour instead, and every class runs at that length. Hifz memorization is 45 minutes or 1 hour.

Do your male teachers speak English?

Yes. They are trained in Quranic Arabic and teach in English, or in Urdu if that is easier for your son.

What happens in the first trial class?

A trial class is 30 minutes, 1-to-1 with the teacher. The teacher shares the screen and teaches from the book, so your son reads along from the page.

More questions(15)
Does a male Quran teacher cost more?

No. The monthly fee is set by how many days a week your son attends, and by the class length for Hifz memorization. The fee is the same for every teacher.

How do we pay the monthly fee?

By card through Stripe, which takes Visa and Mastercard, debit or credit, or by bank transfer through Wise. If neither is available where you live, email us and we will arrange an alternative.

What makes your online Quran academy different?

Your child keeps the same qualified teacher every week, at the same time. Every class is one-to-one. After each class the teacher writes a note: what was covered and what to practise.

Are these live Quran classes or recorded lessons?

Live, always. Every class is a live lesson on video with your child's teacher. We never send recordings in place of live lessons.

What will my child learn in online Quran classes?

Beginners start with the Noorani Qaida. From there it is Quran recitation with Tajweed, and after that Hifz, translation or Tafseer, depending on what a family wants. Alongside the Quran your child learns Islamic Studies. Families on 5 days a week keep Friday as Islamic Day, which revises that week's Islamic Studies and adds one new lesson.

Are your online Quran teachers qualified?

Yes, and it is checked before anyone teaches a child. Every teacher holds a qualification from a recognized Islamic institution, and several hold professional degrees as well. Nobody is given a student on an application alone. There is an interview, a document check, training, and a live demo class we sit in on. The academy page sets out each stage.

Who is watching my child's Quran class?

A supervisor. The supervisor joins the link about 2 minutes before the teacher and your child, checks that both are online, and listens in as the lesson runs. The job is not teaching: it is making sure the class is a good one. If the sound fails, or the teacher is not listening closely enough to your child, the supervisor steps in. Every class is supervised.

How do I schedule my child's Quran class?

Send us your WhatsApp number on the form, or message us on WhatsApp. We ask for your child's age and the times that suit you. A supervisor places your child with a teacher in a slot at that time, in your time zone. We reply on WhatsApp within 24 hours, and usually within hours.

Can we try the online Quran classes before enrolling?

Yes. Take up to 3 free trial classes first. Use them to check the teacher, the timing, and how your child responds before paying anything.

Can parents sit in on the Quran class?

Yes. You are welcome to watch any lesson, without asking first.

What am I committing to, and what if we want to stop?

There is no contract and no minimum term. Fees are monthly, and you pay for the month ahead. If you want to stop, tell us and we will stop. If you need a break instead, any unused balance carries to the next month. Before your regular classes begin, you can withdraw and get a full refund.

How do we stay in touch once classes start?

Through a WhatsApp group we open for your family after the trial classes. It has 4 people in it: you, your child's supervisor, the coordinator and the academy manager. Use it to move a class, ask for a different teacher, or raise anything at all. We try to settle it before the next class.

What do you do with my WhatsApp number?

Arranging your trial class is the only thing we use it for, and we never pass it on to anybody. Once classes start it is the number in your family WhatsApp group.

Is my child safe in an online Quran class?

You are welcome to watch any lesson yourself, without asking first, and a supervisor is listening in on every class. No teacher is given a student until we have checked their certificates and references. We then train them in how we teach, and sit in on a live demo class before they start.

How much do online Quran classes for kids cost?

Live Quran Lessons charges monthly, per child, by the days a week your child attends. 2 days a week is $39, 3 days $49, 4 days $59, and 5 days $65. Each lesson is 30 minutes, 1-to-1.
