Most children are ready for online Quran classes from about four and a half. The age matters less than a few signs: they can sit for ten minutes, copy a sound they hear, and talk to an adult on a screen. A free trial class answers the question quickly.
Six signs your child is ready
- They can sit and do one thing for around ten minutes, such as a puzzle or a picture book.
- They will repeat a sound or a word straight after hearing it.
- They are comfortable talking to a grandparent or relative on a video call.
- They can point at a picture or shape when asked.
- They are curious about Arabic letters, even if they do not know any yet.
- You can be nearby for the first few weeks of lessons.
A child does not need all six. Four or five is usually plenty, and the rest tends to come within the first month.
What if they are not quite ready?
Do not force it. A child who has a miserable first month can take a long time to come back to the Quran happily. Wait a few months and try again, and in the meantime let them hear Quran at home, sit with you when you read, and learn a few letters as a game.
What the first weeks look like
Short lessons, lots of repetition, and one or two letters at a time. For a four-year-old, a lesson that ends with them able to say one new sound correctly is a good lesson. Progress in the first month is slow for almost every child, and that is normal.
The quickest way to find out is to try. Our free trial classes are one to one, with a supervisor present, and nothing is charged. You will know after two or three whether your child is ready.
