Online Quran Classes for Kids in France

Where can my child learn the Quran in France if the nearest class is taught in Arabic?

Children in France learn the Quran one to one over video with a teacher in Lahore, in English or in Urdu rather than in Arabic. Lessons sit after school on French time, fees are published in euros from 35 a month, and every family starts with up to three free trial classes.

Why French families look online at all

The usual account is the same in Paris as it is in Lyon. There is a class at the mosque, it is on a Saturday, it is taught in Arabic to thirty children at once, and the child comes home having said nothing out loud. Nobody heard them read, so nobody corrected them.

The second account is about language. The child is schooled in French and reads English comfortably after that. Arabic is the thing being learned, not the thing it can be explained in. When the explanation is also in Arabic, the lesson quietly becomes two lessons and the child loses both.

Class times that fit a French school day

After school
A 5pm or 6pm slot in Paris is an ordinary working evening for a teacher in Lahore, which is three to four hours ahead depending on the season.
Wednesday afternoon
Many French primary schools leave Wednesday afternoon free. It is the easiest slot in the week to keep, because nothing else is competing for it.
Before school
Early morning slots exist for families who would rather not add anything to the evening.
Weekends
Saturday and Sunday mornings, French time.

Your child keeps the same slot and the same teacher every week. When the clocks change in March and October the slot moves with you, not against you.

One slot a week is not enough for a child starting from the first Arabic letter. Three short lessons beat one long one, because what is being built is a memory of sound and sound fades faster than a week.

Which language the lesson is explained in

  • Explanation in English, which is what most families in France ask for.
  • Explanation in Urdu, if that is the language spoken at home.
  • The recitation itself in Arabic, as it has to be.
  • No French is needed from the teacher, and none is used in the lesson.

Tell us which you want before the trial rather than after it. Changing the language of explanation means changing teacher, and we would rather do that before your child has settled with one.

What to check before enrolling anywhere

  • Is the lesson genuinely one to one, or a small group described as personal attention?
  • Is the fee published in euros on the website, before anyone asks for your phone number?
  • Will it be the same teacher every week, and can you have their name before you pay?
  • Is a second adult from the academy on the call, and may you sit in unannounced?
  • What happens to a lesson your child misses through illness — is it lost, or moved?

These are not our questions. They are the five that separate one academy from another, and any academy worth enrolling with answers all five in a sentence each.
